The Human Resource clinic is a mentorship interactive talk organized by Action For Development (ACFODE) where members of the  public are invited to discuss different issues concerning employment opportunities in Uganda across different sectors and how best they can apply for those opportunities and merge the best candidates at the end.

The purpose of the talk is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills of looking for jobs, networking and job interview skills, learn from each other through sharing of ideas and experiences and to market the work and activities of ACFODE to a wider audience.

Recently a talk that took place on 31st March 2016 was held at ACFODE House. The Guest Speaker was the Chairperson of ACFODE, Ms. Florence T. Muhwezi. Ms. Regina Bafaki, the Executive Director ACFODE, also attended the Event.

The talk attracted more than fifteen participants from Key line Government Ministries and public organisations such as KCCA, representatives from the private sector, the academia, and civil society organisations.

Participants were equipped with knowledge and skills on how to write catching application letters that will not be used to fill the dustbins, but rather catch the attention of employers. They also learnt how to fill the application form for government jobs and the procedures to follow.

They  were also advised to always read and understand the advert before they apply , have academic papers / certificates, motivational letter, passport photos, and brown envelops ready at all the times.

Whenever I apply for government jobs, I am not shortlisted; today this talk has helped me to know the reason and I believe now I can apply and make it to the interview” Adonyo Emmanuel, one of the participants.

In addition, during the training participants were able to understand and differentiate categories of jobs and terminologies used at work palace and these were: Internship/training, Graduate training, First time job, Promotion, Job rotation, Job re-designation, Job attachment, Apprenticeship and Family job.

The Executive Director of ACFODE encouraged them  to join ACFODE fraternity through paying Membership fee in order to benefit more from other training opportunities organized by ACFODE and majority of participants promised to join.

This was as well re-echoed by the chairperson of ACFODE, Ms Florence T. Muhwezi

The participants appreciated the management of ACFODE for organizing the talk and promised to continue engaging with organization along similar lines.
