On the 27th March 2018, ACFODE joined nine We Effect partner organizations and cooperatives from different regions in Uganda for a launch of five year project- programmes in Uganda. The programs would run from 2018 to 2022. We Effect is a Swedish Cooperative that operates within the two thematic fields; sustainable rural development and adequate housing. Her development work also extends to promoting and supporting gender equality all through.
ACFODE is privileged to have signed a five year agreement with We Effect to implement a project titled “Enhancing Gender Equality in Member-based Organizations through Policy Advocacy in Uganda”. The project aims to contribute to equitable access to land and other productive resources by women, men and young people in both housing and rural development sectors in Uganda by 2022.

During the next five years, ACFODE will be a strategic partner for We EFFECT and will particularly work with 5 other We Effect partner organizations namely Semiliki Cooperative in Bundibugyo district, Rwenzori Coffee Cooperative in Kasese, Mukono Multipurpose Youth Organization, Shelter and Settlement Alternatives and Uganda Central Co-operative Financial Services Limited plus their members. ACFODE will focus on enhancing capacities of We Effect partners to deliver gender responsive services and products to their members (women, men and young people) through capacity building, policy review, learning reflections and peer support, male engagement, strategic engagements and media campaigns.

Among their key milestones, We Effect will ensure that each of her regions of operation across the globe; 1) conducts at least one national or regional advocacy campaign with a view of increasing gender equality; 2) women make up at least half of the leadership in We Effect’s partner organizations and; 3) We Effect partner organizations clearly show that women’s incomes increase in relation to men’s.
